Background of the Study
Diplomatic strategies are critical for addressing complex global security challenges through collective action. US-led coalition responses have become a central feature of international security policy, bringing together diverse nations to counter threats such as terrorism, cyber-attacks, and regional instability (Hughes, 2023). In Abuja, these coalition initiatives are reflected in joint military operations, intelligence sharing, and diplomatic engagements aimed at enhancing regional security. This study examines the diplomatic strategies underpinning US-led coalition responses, focusing on how these efforts shape security outcomes in Abuja. It explores the coordination mechanisms, communication strategies, and conflict resolution tactics employed by coalition members, assessing their effectiveness in mitigating security threats (Iverson, 2024). The research also considers the challenges of maintaining cohesion among diverse actors, differing national interests, and the evolving nature of global security threats (Jackson, 2025). Through policy analysis, case studies, and interviews with security experts, the study aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of how diplomatic strategies in coalition frameworks contribute to effective security governance in Abuja.

Statement of the problem
Despite the strategic advantages of coalition diplomacy, US-led security initiatives in Abuja face persistent challenges. Divergent national interests, coordination difficulties, and the rapid evolution of security threats undermine the effectiveness of coalition responses (Hughes, 2023). Critics argue that while these initiatives enhance overall security, the lack of a unified strategic vision often leads to fragmented efforts and suboptimal outcomes (Iverson, 2024). This study addresses whether current diplomatic strategies in coalition frameworks effectively mitigate security challenges in Abuja, or if structural and operational reforms are necessary to enhance collective security efforts (Jackson, 2025).

Objectives of the Study:

To analyze the diplomatic strategies of US-led coalitions in addressing security challenges.

To evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies in Abuja.

To propose recommendations for improving coalition coordination and outcomes.

Research questions

How do US-led coalition responses shape security governance in Abuja?

What challenges hinder effective coalition diplomacy?

What reforms can enhance the strategic impact of these initiatives?

Significance of the Study
This study is significant as it assesses the role of diplomatic strategies in US-led coalition responses, providing insights to improve international security efforts in Abuja. The findings will help refine diplomatic practices and enhance collaborative security measures (Hughes, 2023).

Scope and Limitations of the Study:
This study is limited to evaluating US-led coalition responses in Abuja, focusing on diplomatic and security policy aspects without addressing military operational details.

Definitions of terms

Diplomatic strategies: Planned approaches to achieve political and security objectives through negotiation and cooperation (Iverson, 2024).

US-led coalition: A group of countries coordinated by the United States to address common security challenges (Hughes, 2023).
